1998-1999. On the inside of my class ring are the words "Life on the Edge of Time." I guess that's kind of a corny sentiment, but I still like it.
What were your three favorite bands or musical artists?
Okay, I'll tell, but no one is allowed to make fun of me. Ace of Base, Trisha Yearwood, and Nikki French.
What were your favorite clothes?
Every day I wore the same thing: jeans, a T-shirt with something on it (like a picture or a saying...I had one with crazy eyes on it and the words "Please do not disturb...I'm disturbed enough already."), and a button-up plaid shirt over it. I was a victim of fashion, what can I say.
What was up with your hair?
Long, straight, parted down the middle. I had someone actually make fun of the way my hair was parted once. Jerks.
Who were your best friends?
Mel and Nina, of course, Becky outside of school, and then all the drama kids (Rob, Cam, Amy, Megan, Sandy...Ian, I guess...). Yeah.
Where did you work?
Didn't. I lived 14 miles out of town and didn't get my driver's license till after I graduated. Whenever I had to go into town, mom had to drive me.
What did you do after school?
Drama club. After drama season, I would just go home, do my homework, and take bike rides or walks and watch TV or read.
Did you take the bus?
Who did you have a crush on?
Actually, I don't think I had one. All the guys I knew were guys I had grown up with so they were either like brothers to me or I couldn't stand them.
Did you fight with your parents?
My dad died when I was 13, and I think that might be the reason I never went through a rebellious teenage phase. My mom needed me to help her out and be responsible, so I was. So, no, we didn't fight. I mean, I think we maybe got pissy at each other once or twice a YEAR, if that much, and then it didn't last long.
Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Now, I probably DID have a celebrity crush, but I don't remember who. Probably someone embarrassing, though.
Did you smoke cigarettes?
Hell no. I have dreams every so often where ALL I DO in the dream is chain-smoke. That's it. These dreams freak me out, so I've never even had one drag off a cigarette. Anyway, they smell icky.
Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack because you were too nervous to find your locker?
My school was pretty small, so we could just go to our lockers between classes. It would take like one minute to walk from one end of the school to the other. Maybe two if you were walking slow.
Did you have a 'clique'?
I guess you could call the Drama Kids a clique. Like I said, it was a small school, so some of the cliques overlapped. For instance, some of the drama kids were also the Smart Kids, the ones in AcaDeca, and all of the Jocks were also the Popular Kids, and most of the Popular Kids were also Druggies or Skaters, or both. I was only a Drama Kid, though I guess that means I belonged to the Arty Kids as well, since all us Drama Kids were Arty.
Did you have "The Max" like Zach, Kelly and Slater?
A what now? Is that like a hangout? In school, the seniors had the senior lounge. The Popular Kids would sit in the upper part, and we frequented The Pit. The Pit was so much cooler than the upper part, anyway.
Admit it, were you popular?
Nope. One of the popular guys threw a bagel at my head once. I threw it back and it hit him in the crotch. Served him right.
Who did you want to be just like?
I always thought my mom was very strong. There are worse things in the world than to be like my mom. Which is good, since people tell me we're exactly alike.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
Um...how old am I now? 23? Er...I guess I thought that I would be employed, living away from home, and have a steady boyfriend. One out of three isn't so bad, right? And at least I got away from those shoddy Alaskan winters. *is sad, wants to go back to Alaska*
